Ontario Professional Association of Osteopathic Medicine (OPAOM) also known as Ontario Professional Osteopathic Association , (formerly known as Canadian Alternative Medicine Association registered in 1999) is a non-profit professional organization comprised of osteopathic physicians, traditional osteopaths, Manual Osteopathic Practitioners, residents, interns, and medical students who meet the membership requirements of the OPAOM Constitution and Bylaws.
Our Objectives
(a) To advocate and promote excellence in osteopathic education, research, and health care delivery in the province of Ontario ;
(b) To set standards of practice for Osteopathic Medicine in Ontario ;
(c) To provide continuing educational programs to the osteopathic professionals and the public so as to facilitate the knowledge and increase public awareness of Osteopathic Medicine in Ontario ;
(d) Informing the public about the benefits of Osteopathic Medicine care;
(e) To seek public support pertaining to legislation by the government dealing with the regulation of the practice of Osteopathic Medicine in Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 ;
(f) To conduct consultative partnerships with international associates and organizations to advocate for the Osteopathic profession;
and
(g) To represent the members and to advocate the position of the members before administrative tribunals, health institutions, other professional organizations, the Ontario Ministry of Health, the provincial and federal governments and to the public.
